God created us for relationship with Him.
It was perfect- until we broke it by disobeying Him.
There is nothing we can do as humans to repair it, but God made a way.
He sent His son, Jesus, to die in our place.
If we believe this and choose to live in a growing relationship with God, He sees us not as we were, but in a right standing with Him because of what Jesus did. He literally makes us a “new person” when we decide that God’s way is how we want to live. It is not easy, but it is soooooooooooooo worth it and we are never left to “do it on our own”. In fact, when we are weak, His strength in us is even more obvious. We just have to ask Him for help as we follow His lead.
God gives us His Holy Spirit to help us follow Him and become who He created us to be. We become brothers and sisters in Christ with other Christians in community (the true church), as we are adopted into the Family of God through Jesus. In this family, we use our “gifts” or strengths God has uniquely given us to serve Him, one another, and our community as we grow stronger in relationship with Him.
God created you, loves you and has a plan for you!
1. Recognize and admit that you are not perfect. You sin or choose to go against God. Because of this, your relationship with Him is broken. Everyone has sinned and the result of sin is death. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
2. Believe that Jesus loves you and died the death you deserve for your sin. He literally is your “Savior”. He is with God now and is the only way back to God. (Romans 5:8; John 3:16; Romans 10:9; John 14:6).
3. Accept Jesus’s gift of His life for yours and choose to follow God’s plan for your life. Pray. Simply talk to God. He knows you. What matters is the attitude of your heart, your honesty.
Pray a prayer like this to accept Jesus as your Savior:
“Jesus,
I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. Thank you for dying in my place. Please forgive me and help me to want You more than anything. Please come into my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and help me to follow your plan for my life.
Thank you, Jesus!”
If you have just prayed this prayer and chosen to follow Christ, you are a Christian! Welcome to the family of God! Please let us know so that we can celebrate with you and add you to our prayer list as you begin your journey.
